Grisha Goryachev
Friday, February 20, 2026 7:30 P.M.
Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts
Brookfield, WI
A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Grisha Goryachev is renowned for his extraordinary musical sensitivity and technical virtuosity in both classical and flamenco styles. Grisha is one of very few guitarists in the world who is reviving the tradition of solo flamenco guitar in a concert setting that was practiced by legendary flamenco masters.

Since coming to the United States, Mr. Goryachev has continued his lifelong love affair with flamenco while deepening his involvement with the classical style. His repertoire now includes classical solos, chamber music and guitar concertos and more than six hours of flamenco solos by such composers as Paco de Lucía, Vicente Amigo, Manolo Sanlucar, Rafael Riqueni, and others.
As the flamenco repertoire is for the most part unpublished, Mr. Goryachev has performed the somewhat incredible feat of transcribing entirely by ear from the recordings.
Grisha strives to keep alive older flamenco masterpieces that now exist only on records, by performing them in concerts. Grisha exposes the audiences to some of the best guitar compositions flamenco has to offer. Instead of merely copying, he creates his own interpretations of these masterpieces, using dynamics and tone colors usually associated with classical music.
The Milwaukee Classical Guitar Society Guitar Orchestra will perform a pre-event concert

Thatcher Harrison is a guitarist and a composer from the United States. As a composer, Thatcher tries to expand the boundaries of classical guitar repertoire through what he calls “classical fusion” composition: pieces based in classical composition and performance techniques but with influences from other genres such as jazz music, rock music, fingerstyle guitar music, blues music, pop music, folk music, film score music, and world music.
As a guitarist, Thatcher chooses to perform programs consisting primarily of his own compositions while also playing the music of the great artists who have influenced him.
Thatcher is currently working to establish his career as a concert artist, having performed concerts for Boston Classical Guitar Society, Austin Classical Guitar Society, Rhode Island Guitar Guild, Connecticut Guitar Guild, Portsmouth NH Guitar Sundays Concert Series, Twents Gitaarfestival, Pleven Guitar Festival, Boston Guitarfest, Domaine Forget International Music Festival, and The 21st Century Guitar Conference.
Thatcher is currently studying for a Master of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at the Peck School of the Arts at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in the studio of Rene Izquierdo. Thatcher also studies composition privately with Avi Randall. Prior to attending UWM, Thatcher received his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance from New England Conservatory, where he studied classical guitar with Eliot Fisk and Jérôme Mouffe and composition with Ian Wiese. Thatcher’s formational music teachers include Will Riley, Jim Robitaille, Matt Richard, and Lou Shepard.
